OUR ACTIVEWEAR

Planet-friendly ‘fits are always in fashion. And here at Jilla Active, planet earth is our number one inspo. It’s why our activewear ranges are made to last with a number of sustainable styles at their core. It’s no secret that the fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters in the world. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

From our Eco Soft range to our ReNew collections — and everything in between — we use a range of recycled materials like bamboo viscose yarn, cotton that’s Global Organic Textile Standard-certified and recycled polyamide. Meaning? Many of our fabrics are much kinder to the planet. And, where we can, we try to reuse, recycle or reconstruct materials that are already in circulation.

THE PROCESS

At present, each Jilla piece is crafted using Santoni knitting machines from Italy, famous for creating fabric using a circular knitting process. We call this seamless. This method allows us to integrate a variation of knit structures at specific points on each garment, providing both support and breathability, where necessary. But better yet, it also allows for maximum comfort and flexibility.

THE YARN

Yarn is key when employing seamless knitting methods. Our trusty design team works closely with fabric suppliers to select the best quality and most functional yarns, putting them through a rigorous testing process to better understand which is most suitable for each piece in the collection.

As of 2022, our Jilla collections are comprised of:

  • Bamboo Yarn — which is great for temperature regulation, it’s antibacterial and deodorising and ideal for sensitive skin.
  • Recycled and Non-Recycled Polyamide — this comes with a four-way stretch which allows for a supportive fits-like-a-glove quality, it’s sweat wicking and breathable.
  • Modal — this material is cooling, soft and smooth to touch.
  • Recycled and Non-Recycled Polyester — which provides maximum comfort, four way stretch and sweat wicking.
  • Elastane
  • Organic Cotton

While most of fabric in our tops have lived a life before and the materials making up many of our leggings have been recycled, reconstructed, and reformed — these sustainable solutions won’t restrict your work out. We’ve said ‘goodbye’ to see-through leggings, ‘see ya later’ to bulky seams and ‘good riddance’ to uncomfy ‘fits. Our activewear comes with a conscience without compromising on comfort.

While we’re still on a journey towards a more sustainable future, we’re conscious of the role we have to play. So watch this space!
