Working directly with our own family run factory, we make sure the working conditions for all our teams are of a high standard. Based in Zhejiang Province in China the factory was established in 2003, there are 323 employees at the factory, 247 women and 76 men. The working day is 8 hours with a one hour break, they work 5 days per week and sometimes overtime on Saturday when it is busy. The team's age ranges from 18 to 59 years old, there is a workers union to support the employees and they earn a fair wage.
We have a very close relationship with the factory, our designer Olivia regularly visits the factory to work on new developments along with production. As we are one company from start to finish we are thoughtful and conscious throughout the whole process.
We are keen to be more transparent in our production process, for example we took part in the 'Who Made My Activewear' Fashion Revolution event to raise awareness and highlight the team working at the factory.
We have regular factory audits to ensure our working conditions are to a high standard. These checks includes the annual SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) report and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) certificate. These are both not-for-profit organisations dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing around the world through certification and education.
Also our factory has been certified the ISO:9001, ISO:14001 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), this audit includes the factory management environment, methods of production and production quality.
Our dedicated team based in East London work on the product design, marketing, sales and events. As a very active team we road test the Jilla range by cycling to work, Saturday Park Runs and regular yoga and Pilates classes.
We are personally passionate about becoming a more sustainable brand, so we are always looking at ways to incorporate this into the product and its packaging. We are currently researching more in this areas and we are excited to show you what we've been up to in future seasons.
Although we are a start up we take an active role in the local community, helping in small ways such as donating samples to Royal Trinity Hospice, hosting a sample sale to raise funds for Edinburgh Community Yoga and sponsoring the first women's team taking on the Everest in the Alps challenge with new Jilla kit.
